Hello everyone!
Well this week was a little crazy! This past Monday, I went
to Siem Reap with Sister Luke, Sister Benson and Sister Galland. I drove with
President and Sister Christensen too so that was amazing. They are the best. In
Siem Reap we had a blast. Angkor Wat is something else! Also I
rode an elephant and got a fish foot massage.
But turns out from Siem Reap to KC there are no buses
available so I stayed in Siem Reap until Wednesday morning and then came back
to my home, KC. So crazy but way fun. Also I rode the bus by myself and it was
so weird. I will be so awkward when I go home I can't do anything alone now.
But everyone was way surprised and weirded out that I knew Khmer. They're all
like, "Man this French person has such a pointy nose" and then I just
turn back and say, "Do you want it?" and they're like, “WHAT SHE
SPEAKS KHMER!" I love it so much. So I made a lot of friends on the bus.
This week I had my first little Mormon persecution ever. Usually
everyone just thinks we are Jesus people but we were teaching this potential investigator
and her son comes in and says, "Are you Mormons? You better go somewhere
else to find someone to teach." He wasn't even that mean but it was a
bit awkward but that was kind of fun. We got this new investigator. Her name is
Bong Kuntia. She came to English class. Fun fact she doesn't know that much Khmer,
she speaks Vietnamese. So literally teaching her, we used the Restoration
pamphlets in Khmer and Vietnamese. So crazy. Her family doesn't really want her
to learn so we'll see.
ALSO update on the miracle Ming Sroan. She is still
great. Did not come to church but we had a way cool lesson with her about the Restoration.
So much of the Spirit. SO AWESOME. And when we taught and testified she just
stopped and was like, "Wait. Your Christian churches teach different than
each other?" AND I WAS LIKE, "YES, AND WE HAVE THE TRUE CHURCH.
WE HAVE THE RESTORED GOSPEL.” It’s so cool. I get so pumped about the
restoration and Book of Mormon you have no idea. One time when I was teaching
Bong Tiarii in Battambang, I started crying I was so passionate and she
reminded me every time I saw her, "Remember when you cried cause you were
excited about the gospel??" haha I love it.
Ming Kum On (the most prepared, coolest, spunky Cambodian
ever who is also one of my great friends) was baptized!! And also Ceriya
(quirky, cute girl who prays very loud). So fun. They are some of my favorite
people in KC. Such a happy day for them. Ming Kum On stood and bore her
testimony and she just cried. She was so so happy. I really love her a lot.
So it was a busy, fun week. That's all for now. The Book of
Mormon is awesome and way true.
Much love to you all,
Sister Mortell
